Amy Ford – Pro Life Speaker
Some of the coolest stories are when God takes our lowest and most broken time in our lives, uses it to mold us and shape us and makes us beautiful and then takes it even further by using that season of despair and catapults us into our destiny – making it a part of our destiny and our perfect plan and purpose for our life where we have the ultimate fulfillment and that crazy John 10:10 life that is SO fun!
That is exactly what God did for Amy.
Going through an unplanned pregnancy in her teens was one of the hardest times in her life. She remembers so well how lonely and ashamed she felt. Friends pulled away and she felt uncomfortable at church. Looking back on those 9 months of brokenness, fueled the passion and desire to change things for girls with crisis pregnancies. Amy and her friend Salina, started a small group within Gateway church that met weekly with girls in that same situation providing support, friendship, guidance and love. Five years later, hundreds of girls have gone through the Embrace Grace program as well as churches popping up locally and in other states, providing a safe place for girls with crisis pregnancies to meet.
Being a mentor and friend to so many young girls, the stories are countless on how God did a miracle in the lives and hearts of all these brave and courageous young women. Amy wrote some of the best stories out in her new upcoming release, A Bump in Life: True Stories of Hope & Courage during an Unplanned Pregnancy that released October of 2013 published through B&H Publishers. If you love to read about miracles, you will definitely want to pick up a copy!
Today Amy is the co-founder and president of Embrace Grace, a non-profit organization formed for the purpose of inspiring the church and providing the tools necessary to be an emotional, practical and spiritual support for single young girls that find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy. Amy and the Embrace Grace team want to empower churches across the nation to be a safe and non-judging place for the girls to run to when they find out they are pregnant, instead of the last because of shame and guilt. She is an active speaker and published author. She lives in Arlington, TX and actively serves at her home church, Gateway.
In 1998, I said yes to the man of my dreams. Getting married young and for 15 years, we have practically grown up together. I can’t imagine by life without Ryan. He’s totally cute, makes me laugh and is my best friend. We have 4 beautiful children – Jess age 14, Mackenzie age 11, Landry age 6 and Judah age 1. Being a wife and a mother are more important than anything else – I am so thankful for all that God has blessed me with. We have kind of an organized chaotic system in how we get everything done, but we are smiling the whole time. I love that God chose me to encourage and love Ryan to fulfill his destiny and that I get to be his wife. I love that God chose me to steward my kids gifts and talents inside of them and chose me out of all the moms in the world, to be their momma. I’m cherishing every moment with them!
